| Restau-rant revival |
|
As I spelunked the archives earlier this spring, I came across some fine work done by former Rearguard columnist, Saxon Baird. His column entitled "Restau-rant" was informative and something I could relate to. Well, who couldn't? We all at some point or other go out and eat. This inevitability is enhanced by assurance that what we eat won't suck. So, I hope to continue the legacy of helping you make good dining choices by reviving this column. As a Scottish descendant, I can assure you that there will be sufficient ranting to justify the title. I will do my best to provide at least one positive statement for every two negative ones - I like to call it an insult sandwich. Coming soon, I will begin relating an epic journey of mine as I attempt to find authentic Japanese ramen in Portland. I'm not talking about the square cube you get in the dried foods section. I will explain more on that later. So, until the first installment, happy dining. And feel free to submit requests for reviews to us.
